Excommunicate monsignor who believes all stray dogs should be exterminated!

Meet Monsignor Bernardo Bastres Florence. He is a servant of the Lord and currently preaches at a church in Punta Arenas, Chile.

But it was not for his exceptional masses that the Monsignor has taken the spotlight, but rather for his outrageous and revolting statements and way of thinking. Monsignor Florence decided to give his take on the issue of stray animal, a sensitive issue in Chile – a country tat still dealing with a large population of stray animals. The high-ranking priest has expressed his support for the euthanasia of all stray dogs and went on to say that God is actually Ok with this, because such actions are doing the country a great favour. Churchgoers were left in dismay upon hearing these ridiculous statements.

I am truly shocked at a man of the Lord is capable of speaking out such nonsense. The Catholic Church – and Christian values in general – are keen on promoting kindness, care and peace worldwide. The love for all creatures, including animals has always been a point of focus for all Christian churches. Jesus himself never mentioned anything about hating animals – on the contrary, He has preached and spread nothing but love to everyone during His stay on Earth.

It is absolutely unbelievable that a high-ranking priest can be so callous and ignorant!

Just because these poor souls do not have a home, this does not give anyone the right to harm them! We live in an era of endless possibilities, there are countless ways to humanely deal with the issue of stray animals – such as spay-and-neuter campaigns and adoption programs. It only takes the political willingness to ensure these measures are put into practice (something that has yet to be done).

Laying out the vision that euthanasia of all strays is the right course of action – especially coming from a important member of the Catholic church – is inexcusable!

Please take action to see that this inconsiderate and heartless Monsignor is excommunicated from the Catholic church as soon as possible. His visions have nothing to do with the Catholic and Christian values and he certainly should not be allowed to preach anymore.
