This is Spike, one of the numerous victims of cruelty to animals in Argentina. This poor baby was skinned alive and left to die in terrible pain. The story shocked the entire nation and everyone thought appropriate measures would be taken to prevent such incidents for happening again. But they were wrong. Luz and Chocolate are two other dogs that were cruelly skinned alive in the same way as Spike. Luz managed to pull off a miraculous recovery; however, Chocolate, who was only a puppy, did not survive, despite receiving the best medical care available.

Chocolate’s story, which unfolded just a couple of months ago, has thrown Argentina in turmoil yet again, sparking massive protests all over the country. The problem of animal welfare has re-emerged in the national spotlight.

Exclusive: Punish thugs that cut dog’s ears off and posed for photos!

It is obvious that the country is not going into a good direction. Instead of stopping animal abuse, such incidents have become far too common.

Getting back to Spike’s story. The owner of this gentle Belgian shepherd dog returned to his home in Villa Carlos Paz only to discover his beloved pet in an agonizing state of health. The dog had been skinned alive from his neck all the way down to his tail. He was howling in despair, begging to be rescued. Spike was rushed to a veterinarian, but could not be saved. Humane euthanasia was the only option. Spike’s owner was in tears when he gave the green light to have Spike put down.

The owner believes that an ongoing conflict with one of the neighbours led to this inhumane incident. The incident was reported to the police, an investigation was launched, but the suspects were never brought to justice. As were Luz and Chocolate’s attackers. All these cruel people are out there, free to abuse innocent animals at their own will.

Please support Spike’s law. Argentina does have animal welfare legislation (law no. 14 346), but it is outdated and the penalties are far from being harsh enough. We, the undersigned, hereto demand an immediate review of animal rights laws in Argentina. Please support my petition to make this country a safer place for animals and ensure that such incidents will never happen again!

Spike had to be euthanized to end his suffering.

Another victim of cruelty to animals in Argentina: Luz - skinned alive and left in tremendous pain.

Luckily, Luz made a spectacular recovery, but his attacker was never brought to justice.

The most recent incident - Chocolate the puppy was skinned alive. Despite receiving the best medical care available, the severely wounded puppy did not survive.
